Bios of Current Board Members.

Dr. Asma Maaoui

Asma Maaoui is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Tunis (Higher Institute of Applied Studies in Humanities). She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics (Language Testing). She has been teaching English since 1996 when she started her teaching career as a secondary school teacher. She has served as an active member of Tunisia TESOL since its creation and is currently its president.
Her main research interests include language assessment, reading comprehension teaching and assessment, English for Business Purposes, technology-based instruction and assessment, self-regulated learning and test-taker strategies.

Irina Cordall

Executive Director

Irina Cordall is originally from Russia and has lived in the USA, Vietnam and Tunisia. She has over eight years of teaching experience gained in a variety of environments, including public and private schools, universities, online and by delivering bespoke courses within companies' premises. During this time, Irina has taught all age groups, from four to 84 and has helped learners of all levels, from beginner to advanced.
Always looking for new areas to explore, Irina has taught General and Business English, EAP, ESP, and exam English. She continues to develop professionally and recently gained the Cambridge DELTA. She has since moved into academic management, as Program Manager at the German Business School in Tunisia, while maintaining her professional teaching experience by taking classes part time.
She is currently looking to advance as an independent ELT consultant and trainer and hopes to help educational organizations work more efficiently and provide better quality education.
She has lived in Tunisia for almost four years and has been an active member of Tunisia Tesol throughout this time. She believes that English teachers have always been the change leaders in education and will do everything to help them innovate and inspire.

Boutheina Lassadi

University Professor

Boutheina Lassadi Sayadi obtained a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa, Canada. She has 12 years of experience as a university professor at the University of Tunis and 4 years of experience as a senior consultant with International Organizations such as British Council and USAID. She has introduced the first MA TESOL at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2015. A two-year research-oriented Master program designed to train future teachers and researchers in EFL. Boutheina directed the 10th edition of Language Village Nabeul last summer 2016 promoting Employability skills for English Language Graduates

Hajer Mami

Senior EFL/ESP Teacher

Hajer Mami is a permanent Senior EFL/ESP teacher at the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis (ISLT) and a practitioner in the field of English Language Teaching for more than 20 years. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Letters, Arts and Humanities of Manouba and her Postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics at ISLT. Now, she is conducting her MA research in English Didactics. Her interests cover TEFL, Structure of English, Pragmatics and Sociolinguistics. She has been teaching among other subjects: Communication Skills, Phonetics, Structure of English, Syntax and Advertizing. She joined Tunisia TESOL since its creation and has become an active member ever since. She exercises the function of Tunisia TESOL Treasurer.

Dr. Hichem Aouina

Hela Abassi

ESP Teacher

Hela Abassi. Is an ESP teacher in ISCAE La Manouba since 2011. She has been teaching since almost 10 years. She taught in ISHG, in Gafsa from 2007 to 2011.
At present, she is working on her MA research in English Didactics; “Developing speaking fluency among ESP Tunisian students by implementing the 4/3/2 technique: a case study in ISCAE, La Manouba.” Her main areas of interest are TEFL, ESP teaching, and curriculum and pedagogy development.

Melika Barouni

Hela Abassi. Is an ESP teacher in ISCAE La Manouba since 2011. She has been teaching since almost 10 years. She taught in ISHG, in Gafsa from 2007 to 2011.
